I was privileged to attend the Japanese Society of Microbial Ecology meeting in Hiroshima alongside my graduate students. I am deeply honored to have received the 2023 Paper Award from Microbes and Environments and was allowed to deliver an award lecture. I am grateful for this invaluable experience and the many lessons I learned!
